"Montessori gives your child a strong basis in the most fomative and important years for developing into a responsible, happy and fulfilles person"
- Dr Maria Montessori

PRE-SCHOOL CENTRE

OUR STAFF

Staffing is worked out to the following child adult ratios:

1 : 3 for 0-2 year olds
1 : 4 for 2-3 year olds
1 : 8 for 3-5 year olds

If for any reason staff are not in and we fall below this ratio, temporary staff will be called in.

All permanent staff go through a screening process by the local authorities and have a police check. Staff are not just chosen for their qualifications, but they are chosen for their ability to work as a team and the empathy that they show towards the children.

Our trained staff will dedicate themselves towards developing the full potential of your child. They will create a conductive learning environment for the development of your child.

ADMISSIONS

We are offering places for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Children are grouped according to age and development, from the age of 2-2½ the children will follow the Montessori method of teaching.

Our Programmes

The centre has programmes for children for different age groups:

Babies
Cute, cuddly and adorable. Babies are such delights in our lives. Our babies have a high level of interaction, so we introduce the following activities to our babies:

•  Storytelling
•  Treasure Baskets
•  Music and Movement
•  Messy Play
•  Language Learning
•  Motor Skills
•  Other activities that help the baby's development

Toddlers

Children are changing rapidly and becoming young children instead of babies. They will be introduced to toilet training, more advance motor skill activities and sleeping in beds instead of cots. As children of this age group emerge from babyhood, they require both a stimulating and nourishing environment to develop their mental skills. Practical life activities and manipulative play help to develop their motor skills, sense of order, independence, concentration, responsibility of self and environment. As they learn fastest through their senses, they will also be involved in activities that stimulate their learning senses (eg. Sensorial Activities). Early number and language skills (eg Phonics) will be introduced in a fun and engaging way.

Pre-School

This is usually from 2½ to 5 years. They will be following the Montessori method of teaching . They will be covering all of the areas from Montessori as well as covering foundation stage of planning.

As a continuation from early learning experience from the Playgroup, children of this age group are able to work with more complex exercises within the Practical Life and Sensorial Activities range. Activities are mainly hands-on, fun and concrete at this stage and this sets the basis for later/further development in the abstract concepts. Early mathematics concepts, word building skills and early writing skills are taught in the Nursery stage. Foundation is also laid at this stage for good work and social habits.

At about 4½ years of age, children are ready to take on more complex exercises in a more disciplined way. Mathematics, language and writing skills will be further developed in fun and manipulative ways. They will also be involved in early science and cultural activities (eg. Botany, Geography, Zoology and History). Which introduce the child to the natural environment around him/her.
